The University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point said Aleks Sternfeld-Dunn will become its provost and vice chancellor for Academic Affairs on Jan. 11, 2027, at the university, which has a campus in Wausau. The announcement was published Oct. 8, 2026.
According to UW-Stevens Point, Sternfeld-Dunn will serve as the university’s chief academic officer, overseeing five colleges, more than 100 academic programs and more than 500 faculty and instructional staff members. The university said he will also join Chancellor Bob Brinkmann’s senior leadership team.
UW-Stevens Point said Sternfeld-Dunn has been dean of Arts and Sciences at UW-Eau Claire since 2021, overseeing 24 departments and programs. The announcement said he previously was an associate professor of music composition, theory and technology at Wichita State University.
The university said Sternfeld-Dunn holds a Doctor of Musical Arts in music composition from the University of Hartford, a master’s degree in music composition from Washington State University and a bachelor’s degree in music from California State University at East Bay.
UW-Stevens Point said Marty Loy, who served as interim provost and vice chancellor for Academic Affairs for nine months, will return to retirement.
